Marketing Investment Group S.A. has been operating in the Polish clothing and footwear market for over 25 years. The company successfully develops the Sizeer, 50 style, Timberland, and Symbiosis chains of stores. It is an exclusive distributor of brands, such as New Era, O’Neill, Lotto, Umbro, Head, Confront, Feewear, and the Lacoste footwear line.


Marketing Investment Group S.A. is a mature organisation,  geographically distributed and growing with over 200 stores in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, and Germany.

One of the essential elements of the company’s strategy is to identify and develop the talents of their employees. The implementation process for this strategy, regarding employee competency, capacity, and development needs, has been so far unstructured. Taking appropriate and objective personnel decisions relating to development or promotion has been hampered, with low awareness of the employees and managers about the business benefits of structured development.

Solution and implementation

To meet these challenges, the HR team, with the full support and close cooperation of the Management Board, has launched an educational campaign for managers and employees about employee values and competencies and the need for their continuous development. In addition, the company has implemented an integrated platform for talent management and HR processes – The Skilo system by enxoo. Implementation began with the harmonisation and simplification of competencies and job descriptions, so that, they would be legible, useful, and clear for everyone in the organisation.

Then, based on the competency and position profiles model implemented in Skilo, the evaluation process and planning of the development activities was configured and commenced. Supported with workshops and training organised by the HR team, a few weeks after launch from, the managers held the first evaluation and development meetings with the personnel. The Skilo platform, shared online by the employees, managers, and HR specialists, was used for the preparation and recording of the results and findings.

A few weeks after launching the project, the organisation made their first structured review of the competencies and carried out the planning of development activities. The first visible benefits from the implemented solutions are:

Increase in awareness of the manager and employee awarness about management of competencies, evaluation process, providing feedback, planning development, and identifying training needs.

Results and findings from the evaluation process are available online for the employees, managers, and HR specialists. This allows for faster and more informed decision-making.

Through the shared online platform and automated task flow, the whole process runs efficiently, while minimising the time spent on administrative tasks and reporting.
